We went to Dothan this weekend, so that I could work on wedding plans with Caroline (translation: spend the day dreaming with my sisters)…However, I also managed to run another long run with Ashley (and nearly kill myself, yet again), look at some beautiful land, and hang out with some famous people. Yep, all of you out there in blog land. I hung out with Darby (and Justin and Tommy…not quite as famous :)).If you’ve been under a rock somewhere and don’t read her blog, then you should check it out, but I feel pretty sure most of you know who I am talking about 🙂 And she had some hard news she wanted me to reveal here first…She has a major problem with armpit hair. Seriously though, we were getting out of the car and Jeremiah asked what I was doing as I reached down to grab my camera. I answered, “Jeremiah, Darby’s kind of famous now. I need to take a picture for my blog.” He just shrugged. Despite the stalking pictures, I was glad I brought the camera in, because I ended up getting a (very valuable) little camera lesson from Darby. We stayed WAYYYYY too late (check that clock behind Jeremiah–12:19–crazy late) but the boys were having such a good time…doing whatever it was they were doing in there…and Darby and I actually got to complete sentences, thoughts, even STORIES, since all the little rascals were tucked in bed.The girls had such a great time in the wide open spaces.Do you ever start aching to just let your children run free??? I may be weird, but there’s something about letting them run, without saying, “Don’t touch that!” “Watch out for cars!” “Leave their toy alone!” that makes my heart feel free. And there’s too 🙂Pace even got a little pensive in her old age. They got to feed the horses. And I feel pretty safe in saying that Dapples is going to be (already is, really) an avid horse lover.Or maybe horse fanatic…There were two new babies on the farm, and Popon and Jeremiah took the girls for a ride with them. (I didn’t know this before, but babies will stay right beside their mama’s no matter what. Even if there is a Dapples screeching with excitement on her mama’s back while she walks down a narrow wooded trail.)All in all, it was the best weekend I can remember in a long time. Do you think my little girls are making wedding plans, like I was doing with my sisters??? One day…
Great blog and looks like a fantastic weekend Abby : ) Glad you and the sisters were able to have time together to "dream" about Caroline's wedding : ) : ) The FAMOUS DARBY….hehehehe…i carry around my little camera in Dothan also hoping to get a glimpse of her!!! The Clark's and Maddox's are pretty FAMOUS too : )
p.s. I love all the cute pictures of Pace and Mary Aplin:)
Beautiful pictures!! I am glad you had such a fun get away!
Those were beautiful pictures Abby and it looks like you had a wonderful time with friends and family. Good for you!
Abby, You are hilarious… and the fact that you think I'm famous is even more hilarious. I wish you had brought your razor along with your camera and then we could have traded services. All of your pictures are wonderful. Love the girls and horses… all of it! And I loved our time together… even if it was LATE and you had run 20+ miles…. really, you ran 20+ miles and still stayed up late and talked… you're a champion! Please come back soon for another wonderful weekend!!
These pictures are the best!
Great BEAUTIFUL pictures – I love the girls running free – and Mary Aplin's expressions about the horses – all my children are the same way about ANY animals – it's almost ridiculous – they all need to grow up and become Vets together – maybe your dad can give them some tips! Loved the shots of Tommy, Jeremiah and Justin – you and Darby are both so blessed with wonderful, godly, fun husbands, and one day an amazing girl will be equally blessed with Tommy! I can't wait to hear and see more about Caroline's wedding – what fun times – I'm sad (but glad at the same time) that now both my sister's are married and we don't get to do that anymore!
I love that your girls love horses so much. Emma Raines loves horses too, well, from the car. We've never actually had the chance for her to be around them, but I'm sure she would love them since she loves EVERY other animal. Your pictures are turning out great with your new camera!! I'm glad you had a fun weekend.
I love seeing pics of Jeremiah, Justin, and Tommy together. Brings back old memories of friends back in the day! I know what you mean about letting the children run free. It's wonderful! That's how I feel anytime we go to the farm. I'm not having to yell at all about "don't do this, don't do that". Great post!
Great post. Sometimes I want to run wild in a field just like your little bits!
That Tommy sure is cute!
Ohhhhh how I miss Dothan! I loved, loved, seeing these darling PIC's of the girls! Yup…running FREE is the best! Glad the weekend went so well for all of you! Nothing like…Fresh air, horses, fields to run free in, family and great friends! Bama is the best place to live!
One correction…you were not dreaming with all of your sisters, there was one missing! Thanks for not noticing haha! Hate I wasn't there 🙁 Pace and Mapples look older everytime I see this blog and your photography skills have improved, I am impressed.
Love the pictures! I'm using the one of the girls feeding the horse for a painting- adorable! This post reminds me of my sister's place in GA- can't ever get enough of the 'country life' , fresh air!
Abby what a great post. Love it. And the photos. The girls are so precious. Makes me want to have some land nearby… I'll add that to my 'pro' list for Meridian vs. Birmingham. It will go in the pro-Meridian category.
